
Mental health awareness seminar was successfully conducted by Association of Nepal Terai in Australia (ANT-Aus) in association with Sudur Paschim Samaj Australia (SUPA-Samaj) at Asbury Senior Citizen Center, Canterbury NSW 2193 on 9th February 2020.
Seminar was started by councilor Mr. Ganesh Tamang with the introduction of mental health, its types and the possible reasons that may trigger the mental health issue. Psychiatrist Dr. Santosh Sah elaborated the possibilities and the consequences of mental health.
“This is the sickness which is very hard to notice for a general person” - Dr. Sah said – “Anyone may be affected. One should not delay contacting the professional if any kind of abnormal behavior for more than one week is noticed”. He also mentions so many helpline contact details available 24/7 in Australia.
Despite of wild weather in Sydney, seminar was successfully conducted with participation of almost 40 participants. As it was interactive program, many of the participants asked questions related to the mental health and was answered by Dr. Sah and Mr. Tamang.
Small refreshment was provided after the seminar.
